Integration … . for a lot of creative professionals that is a scary word. It’s
not something visual and not something tangible. Each time I speak to
customers they tell me that integration of the Adobe tools is extremely
important for them. But when I ask them to defi ne ‘integration,’ it’s really hard
for them to tell me what exactly that means.
And that’s why I’m so excited about Keith Martin’s ‘Creative Suite 3 Integration
.’
When Creative Suite was fi rst introduced in 2003, we wanted to highlight and
really show how well the products ‘played’ together. Adobe off ered a small
‘Design Guide’ that highlighted that integration. We took our fi rst step with
that release. But there weren’t a lot of books out there that really talked about
how the components of the suite work together.
For Creative Suite 3, we had an interesting challenge. This was going to
be the fi rst suite that integrated products that we got in our acquisition of
Macromedia. We had some interesting technical challenges, but integration
was the number one priority. After all, no matter if you work in print, web,
interactive, or video, you don’t really want your tools to get in the way of
being creative, right? Being creative is about having fun. And you certainly
won’t have much fun if you are spending most of your time fi ghting your
creative software.
This is why after reading Keith’s book, I was so happy to see that we have
a great resource/tool that really highlights the strides Adobe has taken to
integrate these products. This book is so easy to follow and really targets
the benefi ts and effi ciencies gained by having all the creative tools work
seamlessly. Keith really makes you feel like you are in his studio with him,
watching him work, and learning about all the diff erent products. It’s almost
a magical experience.
After reading this book, I know that you will continue to fall in love with all the
new features the CS3 applications have to off er … . and perhaps learn some
new things that you didn’t know! I know I did.
